WE BRING DECADES OF EXPERTISE IN DESIGN, WORK & FAMILY
THE ORIGIN STORY
While managing her own home renovation in 2013, Carol saw first-hand the challenges even someone with deep design and construction expertise faced.
Having worked for nearly a decade with some of the worlds top commercial designers & architects at Gensler in NYC, both on the design & project management sides, Carol was underwhelmed at the available systems and processes in place on the residential interior design side.
Why couldn't her residential clients have the same guided, predictable, no-surprise experience her commercial clients were accustomed to? She saw no bridge between the contractor and the client, a furniture and finishings process that was mis-aligned with the needs of busy families, and a lack of clarity in fees and budgets.
From this need, Carol Lang Interiors was born.
Transformative, thoughtful, beautiful design is a given; the process and clarity with which it's delivered is the differentiator. We are upfront with budgets and schedules, provide deep building and furnishing knowledge and connections, and deliver with innovative systems and processes to support it all.
Carol Lang, NCIDQ
FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
I'm Carol, a mom and business owner with 20 years of interior design and construction experience. My husband Matt and our three sons, James (13), John (11), and David (8), live in Fair Haven, NJ - a small town on the Jersey Shore between Rumson and Red Bank, NJ.
Since 2013, I've been fortunate to design amazing spaces with great clients, many in multiple homes and phases, based on our trusted and long-term partnership. In each project, I am a steward of my client's investment in their homes, solve their space problems, and add style and function. I oversee each project to ensure the design reflects the wishes of the client and incorporates the design quality of Carol Lang Interiors.
A Cum Laude graduate of Hamilton College, where I double majored in international politics and Chinese and minored in Econ. After a brief career as a business strategy consultant, I switched gears and refocused on the built environment. I hold a Masters degree with honors in Interior Design from Pratt Institute. I speak client, design, and contractor fluently to translate your ideal vision into reality.
I'm a professional member of ASID, NCIDQ Certified, and a licensed interior designer in the state of NJ. I've trained, licensed and tested at the highest level possible in the interior design field.
In my down time, you can find me organizing carpools, cheering for my kids and their friends at myriad after school events, relaxing with a good novel, and reviewing whether or not homework is done. I'm always up for an outside adventure on skis, sails, or sneakers with family and friends.
Liza came to Carol Lang Interiors from the wholesale and editorial side of the furniture and design business, where she spent years developing deep expertise in furniture and styling as the content and merchandising lead for a large global brand. Liza's keen eye and ability to navigate through trends to find timeless classics has added to the depth of CLI's offerings and she is a walking resource library. If Liza can't find it, no one can!
Liza's dog, Tilly, is our favorite tester of rugs and fabrics for durability and pet-resistance and the littlest Lang's most requested office visitor.
Liza is a graduate of the University of Vermont, from which she holds a BA in sociology. She has traveled extensively, worked in art galleries, in marketing for educational games and toys, and then six years on the wholesale and editorial side of the furniture business. She now leads our sourcing and presentation work and her intelligence, kindness, and integrity allow her to step into any role with ease.
Though she moved to NJ sight unseen in the middle of a global pandemic, she has now settled into home in Rumson, NJ. Her out of office time is spent attending myriad showers and weddings, walking Tilly on the beach, and hanging with her husband, James.
