Looking Back at 2021 and Focusing on the Future

Do you take time at the end of the year to reflect and set your goals for the new year? It's hard to slow down when work and life are busy, but I find that blocking a day on the calendar in December to have a mini-business retreat helps me get my head straight. Matt and I did it together this week (hooray for smart spouses!). I spend time reviewing successes and missteps to improve for the coming year.


I thought this year I’d take you along on my annual ritual as I look back at 2021 and look toward the future. Let’s go!



An Incredible (and wacky!) 2021


2021 was another incredible year for my business, working with new and familiar clients. We navigated extended time frames and COVID setbacks, but we did it together! We are wrapping up several projects before the holiday season. I finished a whole-house photoshoot in December and have two more coming in the first quarter next year to finally document some of this beautiful work. I can’t wait to share!


This year, my behind-the-scenes business goal was to rework my processes and client communication to run my business more effectively, transparently and give even better service to my clients.


As a result, I streamlined my offerings to Full-Service Design, Pre-Renovation Planning, and a Design Day to effectively meet project needs at different scales while ensuring I don't get stretched too thin.

I've also hired some behind-the-scenes consultants to help with operations, marketing, and financial oversight so I can focus on what I love to do - serving my clients and creating luxurious and beautiful spaces.


I strengthened my vendor relationships and took my first trip to High Point, NC, to sit in, lounge on, open up and touch all the furniture I could get my hands on to guide clients more effectively to the right products and solutions for their unique style and spaces. I never stop learning and wanting to give more to you!


Goals for 2022


In 2022, I am eager to take all the work I did behind the scenes this year and see how it allows us to have even smoother projects together. I have big goals for this business, and I want to ensure that I meet client needs every step of the way.


One of my big priorities is to thoughtfully expand my team so that I can better serve clients and get you everything you need when you need it. There are enough delays in the industry, I don't want my firm to be one of them!


My family is the reason I work, and they help me set my values and how I treat each person I work with. I try my best to serve you with empathy, flexibility, integrity, and passion for beautiful spaces.


I love that I get to partner with you to make your home feel luxurious, beautiful, and functional so that you can focus on what matters most to you - your crew - and worry less about the rest.

At the start of every project, I talk with my clients about the goals for their space. Inevitably, it bleeds into their plans for their lives and dreams for their family. It's all intertwined.


I look forward to more of these conversations in the new year and with some of you for the first time. With others, it's an ongoing conversation we've been having together for years. Whether we’ve just met or long-time friends, I'm always so grateful to be a steward of your trust and promise to do all I can to make your dreams come true!
